DIY: Embellished Top

We all have quite a number of plain jane tops sitting pretty in our closets. While of course they are versatile, and can be dressed up and down, there's always scope for creating new looks and adding magical dimensions; in ways more than one.

Here's the end result after decking up these basic tops. Ta-da!

You'll need:

(1) A plain top/tee/shirt
(2) A marker
(3) Fabric glue / glue gun
(4) Embellishments

Step 1: Dot the center of the neckline with a marker.

Step 2: Start placing stones in a coordinated pattern, beginning from the center, proceeding towards both the sides. This will help keep the design symmetrical and uniform.

Step 3: Once your design is set, apply glue to each applique, and wait for about a minute or two to dry and become firm.

Step 4: Place the applique back in the same position on the neckline, and press gently for the glue to fix to the fabric.

Step 5: Press firmly after about 5 minutes for a strong fix.

You can try various patterns, embellishments and applique textures, depending upon your style and the clothing you would want to pair your top with. You can also use monochrome embellishments for a more understated look. This technique can be used over basic shirts, to create elaborate collars and cuffs.

You're all set for a fun weekend DIY!

Lupine

Tank: Splash
Cardigan: MAX
Necklace: Blur
Rings: Forever21, Blur
Bag: ASOS
Leggings: Splash
Pumps: styletag.com

Throwing in together a medley of burgundy and emerald green pops, accentuating with geometric print / tribal inspired printed leggings and finishing off with an austere gold necklace and a bag with understated gold accents. A fun casual number, I loved the fact that I picked burgundy (F/W's sweetheart this year) and emerald (Color of the year by Pantone; and I can see why!) both together, and both by chance. On my lips, it's NYX Matte Lip Cream in Amsterdam. While you can easily build up the color, see how you can soft-pedal it?

I used the E.L.F. Bronzer + Highlighter in this post and I love it all the more everytime i wear it! Check it out here. If you are not a fan of emerald green yet, play with the color through accessories, like scarves or bags, and watch yourself falling in love with the color. :)

P.S. I am soon hosting a fun giveaway in association with Wink. They have the loveliest bags! Follow all updates here.

What's in my tote?

This fall is inspiring me to wear all of my favorite colors. Burgundy, deep red, grey and olive green. And whatever arm candy I carry with me, the following are the things I carry. Also, this is considering i have a sufficiently large tote and not a simple sling purse; I happen to carry the whole world in my tote. (And try to fit in a few continents when I'm carrying a sling. Bad joke.)

I keep changing my wallets / clutches very often, but this particular one i cannot just let go of. A sanitizer is another essential something I need to carry every time i go out. My purple contact lens case is another necessity I carry, in case i feel the need to take off my lenses. I've always felt that a statement ring can spruce up an understated outfit. Every time I go out, I keep a versatile ring handy, just in case.

While a good set of shades are always indispensable, carrying a travel perfume always helps you feel fresh. This Dior is one of my favorites. Coin purses are knick-knacks I add to my bag, depending on my mood. Oh yes I'm crazy that way.

Shades : Aldo
Coin purse : Accessorize
Travel perfume : Dior

If shades are a necessity in Indian weather, so is my compact mirror. I often carry my 'currently-wearing' nail lacquer when i know the polish might chip off. I also carry two shades of lipsticks, a dark one and another natural colored; these serve the touch-ups in the day or in the evening. This particular moisturizing balm serves as a wonderfully soothing balm for my lips as well as my hands. Those iridescent rainbow colored bands are my absolute favorite!! They've got 'Made-for-fall' all printed over them. I'm so worried about losing them, it's not even funny.

Compact mirror: UK
Nail Lacquer: Maybelline
Lip colors: NYX lip cream in Antwerp, Colorbar lipstick in a red shade
Iridescent bands: Esta Accessories
Notebook: Bechain Nagri

And then comes the dual purpose card holder / coin purse, I just cannot get over the croc print. Bought from Hong Kong Lane, FC road, Pune for a mere 80 INR. Colorful pens and pen drives, they are all there somewhere tucked in safely.

One of my favorite pens. It's not a fancy brand, no, but it cost a good 400 INR something. Of course I had to buy it anyway.

What are you carrying in your tote this season? :)

Notoriously heeled.

For this post, I moved to a rather strong look. Almost androgynous, with the broad-shouldered pussy-bow shirt. The rest of the outfit wanted to balance itself, and therefore remained feminine.

We all know this one someone to whom we'd want to say "For the love of God, let's not discuss fashion."

No. Just don't.

It's so annoying piteous to see someone flaunt their bland sense of style, while you meekly try to convince them about a color blocked or asymmetric dress they disliked, and therefore fail without even trying. Oh come on. The very thought of not being able to share the feeling for a beautiful sequined dress or a neon blazer is SO painfully disturbing.

Doesn't everyone know this one amusing, fashionable person who isn't really one? Haha. ;)

Hey! YES, sometimes I do have little things like these to rant about!

And I'm currently finding the electric blue Zara pair dangerously addictive.
